The Egyptian General Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) celebrated its World Standards Day 2025, which was held under the slogan “A Shared Vision for a Better World,” under the patronage of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport.
The celebration witnessed the honoring of El Nahda Industries Company – El Nahda Cement Plant, which received an appreciation award in recognition of its success in the fields of quality mark, environmental performance, energy efficiency, and consumption rationalization.
The award was received by Dr. Eng. Magdy Tawfik, Chairman and Managing Director of the company, from Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir.
On the sidelines of the celebration, Dr. Tawfik affirmed that the company began exporting to European markets for the first time this year, with a first shipment of 270 tons of Ordinary Portland Cement to England, after obtaining the European Conformity Mark (CE Marking) in accordance with approved European standards.
This achievement comes in light of the support and directives of Eng. Mohamed Shiemy, Minister of the Public Business Sector, and under the auspices of the Chemical Industries Holding Company, which reflects the commitment of the state and the senior leadership of the industrial sector to enhance the competitiveness of national companies and raise the level of quality and innovation in Egyptian products to reach regional and international markets.
He explained that this achievement represents a strategic step to enhance the company’s position in international markets, noting that the success was the result of joint efforts and the support of the Board of Directors for all departments, especially the laboratories and quality control department, which implements strict regulatory systems from the inspection of raw materials to the final product.
He also pointed out that the company had previously started export activities to nearby markets such as Sudan, Libya, and Syria, while the expansion into Europe represents a qualitative leap for its export trajectory, confirming that the licensed production capacity is 1.5 million tons annually, with plans to increase it to 2.1 million tons to meet local demand and expand exports, with 75% of production allocated to the local market.
He added that the company is currently working on developing the packaging lines and installing “Jumbo Bag” machines with investments reaching 25 million Egyptian pounds, in addition to the fact that the Board of Directors is currently discussing numbers of new investment projects to expand the company’s activity in the future. Dr. Magdy Tawfik also praised his colleagues on the Board of Directors and all the company’s employees, directing his thanks and appreciation for their efforts.
